Hardly any other formal language has left such successful traces in the design history of the 20th century as that of the Bauhaus.

The groundbreaking design principles of the Bauhaus have developed into a formative mould construction kit. Artists and architects such as Marcel Breuer, Walter Gropius and Mies van der Rohe have influenced generations of subsequent designers.

On the border between design and art, artists and designers have designed furniture and objects that are on the one hand strictly geometrically conceived and pay homage to Bauhaus minimalism - such as Donald Judd's designs - and on the other radically new forms such as the objects of Ettore Sottsass and Robert Wilson.

The special exhibition "Utopia of form" offered a kaleidoscopic glimpse of the numerous forms that followed the Bauhaus. This was not about documenting a historical timeline, but about associations and surprising encounters with the Bauhaus as a source of inspiration. The special exhibition wais curated by P.C. Neumann (Neumann-Hug Collection).
